Product Description

Find incredible versatility and comfort in our Thermodown 30 down sleeping quilt, one of Backpacking Magazine's "Best Sleeping Bags of 2019". With excellent materials and performance, your search for a great warm weather backcountry quilt ends here!

Unmatched Versatility

Backcountry quilts offer incredible versatility that is unmatched by traditional sleeping bags. On cold nights, our quilts can be easily closed up to form a standard mummy sleeping bag. Even the foot box can be closed up with cinch cords to keep the warmth in.

When the weather warms up, open up the quilt to provide the ventilation needed to keep you nice and comfortable. You can even adjust comfort throughout a backpacking trip as the weather changes.

Finally, use it as a simple blanket while enjoying a backcountry meal or high alpine sunset.

The beauty of quilts is that they can be adapted to suit almost everyone, in almost every situation. There's no need to have several sleeping bags for different seasons or compromise with the same one throughout the year.

Superior Insulation

Each quilt is filled with 16 ounces of high quality 700-fill power down (17 ounces for Long version) for amazing loft to tackle those cool summer nights above the tree line. However, the added warmth does not compromise on size and weight. The quilt comes in at only 2 lb. (2 lb. 2 oz. for Long version) and packs down to just 9 x 6.5 in.

The quilt comes with an adjustable strap to easily secure it to your sleeping pad. It will keep you on your pad at night and also prevent any drafts while you sleep.

In addition, we provide a durable compression sack. If you pair our quilt with a compact and lightweight air pad, such as our popular ReCharge UL insulated pad, you can fit both inside the sleeping bag compartment of most multi-day backpacks.

Finally, between trips, use the included mesh storage bag to properly store the quilt.

How do I care for my new down quilt?

  1. When you first receive the quilt, run it in the dryer at the low-temperature or air fluff setting for about 10 minutes to loosen up the down that has been compressed during the shipping process.
  2. If you need to re-distribute any of the down filling inside the quilt, simply fold the quilt in half lengthwise and shake it. Gravity will cause the down to slowly migrate from the sides of the quilt to the middle where it will provide the best insulation. Another method is to lay your quilt out on a flat surface and gently move your hand over the baffles, starting from the sides and moving towards the center.
  3. When heading out on the trail, use the included compression sack to protect the quilt and also reduce the amount of space it takes up in your pack. Use care when stuffing the quilt into the compression sack.
  4. Between trips, always store your quilt using the included mesh storage sack.
  5. Always wash your quilt by hand or a front-load tumble washer. Never use a top load washer. Never use bleach.

Nice Gear, Nice Price

We have used the quilt for a road trip and a backpacking trip. The bag packs down small. The compression stuff sack supplied works well. The 30 degree bag works down at least to 50 degrees. If you are a warm sleeper like me, it will definitely go down to 30 degrees with a little assist. If you are a cold sleeper like my partner, expect 40 degrees to be the lower limit. I like the foot box and the workmanship. I have not tried the sleeping pad tie-downs, but they may work. Overall it is good gear for a good price.

Pretty Solid

Got this for my first over night hiking trip. Temps inside my tent got down to ~35C and I was comfortable using this and a sleeping bag liner. Only downside is that you cant fully zip the front of the quilt shut so I was a little exposed during the night (I just didn't think about this before i bought it).

Great compact quilts

These are compact for air travel and national park camping. Plenty warm for spring - fall. Tried them out camping in Joshua Tree Nat Park...can’t wait to get them out again! thanks Paria!

I returned a 30 degree quilt and purchased a 20 degree quilt. The 20 degree quilt is great. Still haven't heard back about the 30 degree return though. An update would be great.

I can’t do mummy bags. I feel to confined. This was great and when it got below 40 the foot box was used and worked great. I struggled getting out of my hammock I was so happy. Compressed to a nice size for my pack.
