Great Bang for the Buck!

In my opinion, the Arches 2P tent is an excellent value. The main aspects of the tent that I appreciate are the double wall construction for managing condensation, the interior space (53 inches wide), and the balance of weight and cost. My son and I took this tent on a hike through the Grand Canyon. The Arches tent was structurally sound, and it held up well to the moderately strong winds we experienced. Furthermore, we had plenty of room for both of us, and our gear fit nicely under the vestibules. Not many trekking pole tents are 53 inches wide! As mentioned in one of the other reviews, the tie-outs on the ground cloth are not long enough to reach the stakes if the tent corners are fully stretched out. I replaced the Dyneema lines that came attached to the ground cloth and tent body with some shock-cord, but I did leave the Dyneema on the fly. You can find a lighter 2P tent, but you will either be paying a lot more for DCF or giving up some interior space. The Arches 2P had all the features I was looking for.

Great low budget UL tent

I have spent a lot on backpacking gear lately and didn’t want to spend another several hundred dollars just trying to get a 2P tent below 4 lb, and this is the answer to my problem! It’s roomy, I’m 6’5” and can fit in this thing with my XL Paria insulated pad. In order to get a lot of extra head and foot clearance and really open it up, the side guy outs need to be lifted up, either by securing to a nearby branch or using a stick to run the line over before staking it out. The craftsmanship and quality on this tent are fantastic, very well taped seams and I found zero sewing flaws. There are a few simple things I think need to be improved though, which were relatively easy mods for me to do myself but wish it came ready out of the bag: 1) There need to be longer guy out lines provided that can reach the top loop at the trekking pole and be strung out further from the tent. The lines provided aren’t near long enough to even reach the top loop. I bought extra Dyneema line and two extra stakes, so that I could use those provided to stake out the door vestibule separately and run the new line out further for the structural line. Much better pitch after this. 2) The small loops on the ground sheet aren’t big enough to reach the rain fly stake points. I added larger loops of 1/16” shock cord so they can reach and act to keep the sheet centered and flat whether I’m using the tent body or not. I also did the same on the tent body corners as I found it was also just a little short and I couldn’t stake the fly out as far as I needed to get a tight pitch. 3) The only other minor critique is that the gear pockets inside are really small and sag too much to really hold anything securely, would be nice to have more gear pockets but there’s so much extra room in the tent it’s not really an issue. All in all, excellent value and I shaved 1.5 lbs off compared to my other tent and gained a ton of room without breaking the bank!

Great tent!

I got the 1-person tent. This was my first ever tent that I took on a backpacking trip. The first time I tried to set it up in my yard it was a little tricky to figure out how to get it all set up the right way. The loops on the ground sheet and the loops on the tent don’t line up. But I read a comment that says to slip the tent loops through the ground sheet loops and then stake the tent loops. That worked great. Rain sheet was easy to attach to the tent body and easy to stake out and set up. One other thing I loved was that there are two zippers on the door. That way you can just unzip the bottom while leaving the top zipped making it harder for bugs to get in. I have not yet used it in the rain, but based on how well the ground sheet kept moisture off the bottom of my tent I think it will do alright. It’s super roomy, too. More like a 1-1/2 person tent. Cons are the inner pockets - they’re more like flaps in a couple of the corners. Stuck my glasses in there but they didn’t stay put. Overall, great tent! Looking forward to more trips.

Great tent overall

This tent is great overall. After the initial first set-up, which took some time, it stood pretty well. The weekend I used it, there were wind gusts of up to 50mph, and as long as the tent is properly secured, it held up fine. The inside net drooped a little, but if I made some modifications to shorten the loops that connect to the trekking poles, it would sit a little more taught. The temperatures that weekend also fell to the low 30s (Fahrenheit) and it stayed warm. There was also no condensation on the inside when I woke up. It is not the most spacious on the inside, but that is to be expected for a 2 person tent. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase of the Arches 2p tent and it is light enough to carry on trips for a low price.

Nice trekking pole tent

This is a nice tent. Trekking pole style tents save almost a pound over freestanding tents. Especially useful your hiking solo and don’t have someone to share the weight with. Very similar to a lanshan 1. Quality is good. Also true dual wall so no condensation issues. No five stars for using black guy lines. A trip hazard in the daytime, already swapped out for yellow.
