Don't be fooled, our needles stakes pack a punch! Despite their small size and featherlight weight, the square cross-section is plenty thick to survive the toughest terrain. If you don't want to spring for our titanium shepherd stakes, these are the lightest alloy option available.
The smaller, needle-shaped cross-section makes them easy to sink into any terrain. If you do manage to bend one on a rock, they are easily straightened out. The bright blue color and rounded notch at the top make them easy to see and a breeze to pull out.
Finally, each stake is carefully manufactured from high-grade, 7000-series aluminum alloy for the perfect mix of weight and durability. Due to the minimalist shape, the stakes only weigh 0.34 ounces (9.6 grams).
I have been using mine for over 2 years now and the ends will bend some ifu drive them hard in very rocky soil , but so would msr !!
But these are the lightest option I have for my zpacks plexamid ,
Was so sad when msr quit selling them , gonna order another set just in case u guys discontinue these , sure the ground hog style are stronger but they are heavier and take up more pack space , these are the best in my opinion for gram counters who want a strong stake .
I hoped these would be an alternative to the titanium nail pegs from another manufacturer. These aluminum needle stakes are lighter weight and less sharp (which I appreciate as I don’t worry as much about them puncturing my pack) but unfortunately they proved to be no match for the rock hard soil of Alstrom Point.
These stakes are perfect replacements for the much-sought-after UL stakes that come with MSR tents. MSR doesn't sell them separately anymore and they are in high demand because they are so light, small to pack, and easy to pull when breaking camp. They last well (6 years in a rocky georegion and never a bent stake yet) and have held for me in all types of storms, although they don't hold well in sand and aren't really meant to. So glad to have found a source for these again!!
Glad I found a company still selling needle stakes. They are the best all-around stakes for backcountry adventures. Very strong, super light and the light blue color is easy to spot if you drop one in the grass. They will definitively be in my tarp kit next time I hit the trail.
These stakes are easy to put in the ground and take out. For a guy line with a lot of stress on it, a "y" stake holds in the ground better, but these are perfect for light to moderate stress on the stake. The stakes don't take up much space packed away.
